Canvases can be any size and type that is widely available in craft stores. Examples of types include but are not limited to: traditional wrapped, heavy duty wrapped, or canvas panel. Examples of sizes include but are not limited to 9x12, 16x20, or 24x30. Art paper is another option, usually more ideal for pencil drawings, charcoal, and sometimes gouache and oil pastels. Same principal for the canvases apply to paper as well. Both size, type, and medium contribute to the cost of materials, which is included in the overall cost of the commission.
Pricing
For pricing custom artworks, I use a simple formula: cost of materials + $13 per hour. Cost of materials includes anything that I need to buy in order to create your artwork (medium + canvas/paper). The cost of materials portion must be paid before I start working on the piece and is non refundable. If you have a budget for the piece, let me know beforehand so I know how long to spend on a piece, and I can stay within your price range.
Timeframe
How fast an artwork is completed depends on many factors, the main one being the size of the piece. Please allow several weeks for me to accomodate your wishes, especially for larger pieces. After I know factors, such as size, I am able to give you an estimated timeframe for completion.
Process
When contacting me about a custom artwork, please include as much information as possible (where applicable). This includes any reference pictures, descriptions, budget, desired mediums, timeframe etc. If you are unsure of certain factors, I am more than happy to help you figure out what you want. After I know all the information I need, I will give you an estimated timeframe and price. After I receive the down payment for materials, I will send a sketch for you to approve before I begin. I can change the sketch as much as you want until it looks how you'd like. Throughout the process, I will send pictures of the progress. When completed, I will let you know the total price (based off the time spent), and you will receive your artwork after you pay.
Payment
All payments can be made by cash, check, or venmo. I will not begin making your artwork until I receive the down payment. Likewise, you will not receive the artwork until you pay for the completed piece.
Additional Information
I cannot do everything, and therefore I may not be able to accommodate every commission that I receive. To get an idea of what I can do, visit the gallery page.
During busy holiday seasons, I will go based on first-come-first-served basis. If you wish to commission a piece as a gift to someone during the holidays, please let me know far in advance to avoid me having to turn you away.
If you are not local and shipping is necessary, I do not consider the cost of shipping when I give you an estimate. You are responsible for covering the shipping price as well as any shipping materials necessary.
